Efficient product presentation with the crossbase API server at OASE

With the changeover to the crossbase PIM system, the OASE website has been modernized and technically optimized. Data is now provided centrally via the crossbase API server and the technical implementation is carried out with the CMS Typo3. The new solution enables an appealing and user-friendly product presentation.

Initial situation

OASE's previous website was linked to an outdated PIM system that no longer met modern requirements. The wish was to create a future-proof solution that combines central data maintenance with application-oriented product presentation.

Procedure

With the introduction of the crossbase PIM system, the interface to the website was replaced by the crossbase API server. This provides the product data via REST services and works together with the CMS Typo3. The agency Zeitspringer used the data provided to technically implement the website. Around 1,500 products are offered.

The product presentation was designed to be application-oriented: Users can select products and novelties using descriptive texts and tile graphics. Detailed information is available for each product, including product features, technical data, photos, videos, accessories, spare parts and instructions for use. Products are displayed with RRP (recommended retail price) and can be ordered directly from specialist dealers.

Technically, the crossbase API server enables fast live access through a caching system. Data is retrieved as required via defined ports and provided in standardized form as so-called DTOs (data transfer objects). Typical DTOs include

• Selection of relevant languages and countries
• Navigation via tree structures
• Article overviews for comparison and selection
• Media and text information on products and categories
• Price information on articles
• Search terms to optimize the search functions
• The global definition of DTOs allows them to be reused in other online applications.

Result

The new OASE website impresses with its appealing product presentation, fast loading times and high flexibility in data maintenance. The central provision of data via crossbase ensures efficiency and consistency in the presentation.
